Blindfold Chess Demonstration to Be Held at the
CUNY Graduate Center

― Sponsored by the GC’s Culture Club
in association with the Ph.D. Program in Mathematics

Date: Friday, June 11, 2004

Time: 1 pm (until approximately 5 pm)

Location: The Science Center (Rm. 4102)

International Chess Master Danny Kopec will play six simultaneous games of chess against six GC students while "blindfolded," i.e., he will not be able to see the board.

The students who were selected to play, from those who volunteered, come from the following academic programs: Art History, Computer Science, English, Mathematics, and Philosophy.

Six individuals will be needed to record the games in chess notation so that moves can be read back if necessary.

Spectators are welcome to attend to sit and watch the matches.

Refreshments will be served!

If you would like to be a backup player or one of the game recorders, please send an email to the Culture Club president, Efua Okoh, at eokoh @gc.cuny.edu.

"Be there or be square."
